The Heartbeat Peace Music Fund
The Peace Music Fund
We urgently need to expand our moral imagination: to create bold visions of a future of safety and freedom for Palestinians and Israelis. Music and the arts open pathways for us to feel and imagine what the future can hold, to dismantle barriers, to see through the eyes of our opponents, to hold space for pain and loss, to advocate for our communities, and to breathe hope into despair.
Mission
The Peace Music Fund amplifies the voices of artists who courageously harness the power of music to build a world of peace and justice. Initially focused on artists reimagining the future for Israelis and Palestinians, The Peace Music Fund supports organizations and individual artists to create music that broadens perspectives, challenges us to confront today’s reality, and opens us up to the possibilities of what could be.
We see music as a transformative vehicle to reshape society’s moral imagination, to grapple with tough questions, to help us expand our critical understanding and empathy, and to tear down physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual barriers.
The Beginning
Since 2023, Heartbeat has provided grants to leading music education, dialogue and youth empowerment programs in Israel and Palestine: The Jerusalem Youth Chorus and the Hand in Hand Schools’ Music Program. We have also invested in the transformative Dugri Project, a professional music-driven peacebuilding effort, as a funder and US tour fiscal agent.
